Although unknown nationwide, it is very well known to locals. It has been put on the register of Historic Places. It is also a registered landmark in the county. The small house, its mosaic walkways, and assorted oddities is almost entirely made of glass bottler. It was assembled by Grandma Tressa Prisbrey from 1956 until 1981. Grandma Prisbey has long since passed, but the site lives on, including it's own website where you can check out photos of her and all of her work. Originally the City was not so accepting of Bottle Village as a tourist attraction, in fact one past council member called it "a collection of trash"!  Now the city is very supportive in working toward putting Bottle Village on the tourist map. They are taking a "The more attractions the better" approach.  

While we don't see any tours of Bottle Village anytime in the future the good news is that the Preserve Bottle Village Committee has been working hard to open up Bottle Village on a regular basis.  They have been working at fixing up the grounds and taking an inventory of what is there.  They are working hard to raise money for the cause as well.

We wish the Preserve Bottle Village Committee the best of luck!  When Bottle Village opens full-time, we will be happy to mention the attraction to many of our clients looking for something local and unique. Tourists bring money, and when they report back to their friends, we get more tourists. We doubt Grandma Prisbey ever longed for the recognition. Our guess is that she was a true artist and was just doing what she had a passion for.
