These are all festivals frequently visited by our Los Angeles limo clientele and we have therefore decided to elaborate on some of our favorite film festivals this city has to offer. AFI Fest (American Film Institute’s Los Angeles International Film Festival) is one of the largest and the most influential film festival in the United States. It presents top notch new films from around the world and numerous Academy Award winning movies have premiered at the AFI Fest. The AFI Fest is the oldest film festival in LA and also hosts galas with hundreds of filmmakers, journalists, and other attendees. Some of the Academy Award winning films that first were premiered at this venue include the Cider House Rules, Monster and others. Maybe best of all, attendance here is free of charge.  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognizes the AFI Fest as a qualifier for the Short Films category for their Academy Awards. The American Film Market, the AFM, is the partner of this movie festival.

Hollywood Film Festival happens every October at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood. It is mostly made up of numerous sub festivals, such as its own venue from independent films, one for international films, horrors, comedies, and so on and so forth. This festival might have the heaviest emphasis on awards and its start marks the beginning of the Hollywood awards season. Usually the Hollywood Film Festival screens more than fifty movies and celebrities often use a limousine Los Angeles to attend the audience here. The goal of the festival is to bridge the gap between the established Hollywood industry and emerging new comers.  


Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) happens every year in early May and is a larger festival of movies by Asian Americans as well as a selection of Asian movies from throughout the Asian world. Previously known as the VC FilmFest, this festival is hosted and presented by Visual Communications (VC) and held partially in West Hollywood and partially in Downtown’s Little Tokyo area. This festival was created in the early 1980s to promote Asian and Asian Pacific cinema in the United States and the festival is held during Asian Pacific Heritage Month in May. They have juried awards to four categories: the Linda Mabalot New Directors Award, the Golden Reel Award (short film), the Narrative Feature Award, and the Documentary Feature Award.

Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, also known as Outfest, is the largest film festival in Los Angeles and also an incredibly popular destination for our limousine Los Angeles clientele. This LGBT celebration has taken place every July in LA for several decades and offers more than 200 films on average. The goal of the festival is to bring equality to LGBT Americans through the arts. Established in 1982, the LA Outfest usually lasts for about ten days on average where programs such the UCLA LegacyProject, Outfest Forward, People of Color Film Festival and the LGBT Film Festival take place. Outfest has numerous awards, known as outie awards, which are given to sixteen categories. Some of the award categories here are the US Narrative Feature Award, Freedom Award, International Feature Award, Documentary Feature Award, and so on and so forth.


Los Angeles Film Festival (LA Film Fest) might be the world’s greatest selection of indie films from around the world. It offers 200 from everything from full length documentary style films, music videos, short videos, and more. With more than 100,000 attendees on average per year, the Los Angeles Film Festival’s ten day event is an increasingly popular LA limo destination. Many high budget films premiers at the LA Film Fest, including for instance the Disney Pixar’s film Brave (2012) premiered here. Several of the outdoor screenings are free of charge and the festival is often visited and hosted by celebrities, such as George Lucas and Kathryn Bigelow during previous festivals.

Los Angeles International Short Film Festival (LAISF) is the world’s largest festival of short films and is one of the most popular film festivals amongst our LA limo service clientele. The LA Shorts Fest, as it’s also known as, was established by Robert Arentz in 1997 and it quickly became one of the most prestigious movie festivals in the world. As the LA Shorts Fest is accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Award winners here are eligible for Academy Awards. The 2015 festival takes place at L.A. LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles from September 3rd through the 10th. 


Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival takes place every year in Hollywood and its main goal is to connect the Hollywood industry with the great Hispanic film industry both from around America and around the world. Established by Peruvian Marlene Dermer and Edward J. Olmos in 1997, and the festival often screens as many as a hundred movies, some which as screened at the TCL Chinese Theatre (Grauman's Chinese Theatre) in Hollywood. This festival is held annually in August offers a wide variety of material from Hispanic filmmakers, actors, writers and film producers. For the most part a screening of Mexican American other Latin American films, the festival is held at the Egyptian Theatre. 

Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival (LAWIFF) is a film festival that takes place every year in West Hollywood and show screens animations, documentaries, narratives, short films, and more on women’s issues from around the world. Is is produced by the non profit Alliance of Women Filmmakers (AWF), and seeks to empower and diversify the role of the woman. Every year, the LA Womens Fest also partners with organizations to help women throughout the world and champion women’s rights. Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) has featured screenings of movies by African American writers and actors for decades. This festival takes place annually in at the Culver Plaza Cinema in Culver City and the same festival is also held in Atlanta, GA and in Nigeria, Africa. It is a non profit corporation that has been described by the LA Times as the “world’s largest black film festival”. It was founded by actors Danny Glover and Janet Dubois in 1992 and Whoopi Goldberg is among those who have hosted this festival in the past. In 2014, the Pan African Film Festival had more than 75,000 visitors and screened more 179 movies from throughout the African world and the United States.

Downtown Film Festival (DFFLA) is another film festival that takes place through numerous smaller venues at different locations. The Downtown Film Festival finds place every July and its goal is to reflect Downtown Los Angeles vibrant and new urbanism, as well as its cultural and ethnic diversity of communities, peoples and neighborhoods. It is a nonprofit organization and it screened more than a 1,000 films during the last festival. Many filmgoers love their under the radar indie films show-screened in Silver Lake.
